Biography

Dr. Jose Danilo B. Diestro is a vascular neurologist with subspecialty training in interventional neuroradiology working as a staff physician at St. Michael’s Hospital and an investigator at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute. He holds the rank of Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, Department of Medicine, Division of Neurology as a Clinician Investigator. He received academic training from the University of the Philippines (Doctor of Medicine, Adult Neurology Residency, Stroke Fellowship), University of Toronto and Université de Montréal (Interventional Neuroradiology Fellowships) and, McMaster University (Master of Science in Health Research Methodology- Clinical Epidemiology).

His clinical research is dedicated to three key areas: 1) exploring outcomes and decision-making in endovascular stroke treatment, 2) investigating innovative devices for aneurysm treatment, and 3) studying the long-term clinical consequences of subarachnoid hemorrhage. His overarching goal is to impact clinical practice by actively participating in and leading randomized controlled trials.
